We are delighted to announce that we officially have a new European Commission!
The new EC President, Ursula von der Leyen, has outlined her vision for the organisation’s next five years. She insisted on new, transparent and collective decision-making, as well as six ‘Commissioners’ groups’, which outline the Commission’s priorities for the 2019-2024 period:
- a European Green Deal;
- a Europe Fit for the digital age;
- an Economy that works for all;
- Promoting our European Way of Life;
- a Stronger Europe in the world and
- a New Push for Democracy
We are especially excited about the EU Health and Food Safety Commissioner, Stella Kyriakides. Hailing from Cyprus, she has an extensive background in clinical psychology and healthcare policy and advocacy, especially with cancer. Read the full report here.
