24th European Health Forum Gastein – “Rise like a phoenix – Health at the heart of a resilient future for Europe”

September 27 - October 1

The European Health Forum Gastein annually convenes up to 900 participants for candid exchange and active collaboration, comprising senior decision-makers as well as key experts and community members from government and administration, business and industry, civil society, and science and academia. The Forum integrates regional, national, European and international levels, and is focused on future-facing intersectoral dialogue that breaks open traditional silos around health and health policy. In 2021, the digital EHFG is held under the main theme Rise like a phoenix: Health at the heart of a resilient future for Europe.

Health, solidarity and equity are crucial foundations for social stability and prosperity, impacting all other areas of life. Never has this been more apparent than during the COVID-19 pandemic, which over the course of the last year has upended our lives and radically altered the European political landscape. While we continue to fight fires on numerous fronts, amidst the ashes of this unprecedented crisis lies an opportunity for renewal and rebirth. Health is having a rare moment in the political spotlight – the time is right to drive forward holistic action on the root causes and systemic failings that have allowed the virus to flourish, and to fight for solidarity and equity within Europe and on the global stage.
