The Board of Directors, on behalf of the EHMA Members, govern how we achieve our vision of excellence in health management for a healthy Europe. They do this by ensuring EHMA achieves appropriate results at an appropriate cost; and avoids unacceptable actions and situations. The Board report annually to the Member’s Annual General Assembly.

Dr Antoni Peris Grao is CEO at CASAP – Consorci Castelldefels Agents de Salut, a public consortium running a Primary Care Team and a Primary Care Emergency Unit, whose aim is to provide a highly resolutive and top-quality primary care health services. CASAP works not only on the clinical side but also on the organisation, leading projects and looking for team cohesion through different strategies.
Dr Peris Grao is a Medical Doctor with a specialisation in Family and Community Medicine. He holds a Master in Public Health; a degree in Quality Management; and a degree on Primary Care Management. He is Member of scientific and organising committees for CAMFIC and EFPC, and Member of Bsalut, an association for Research on Innovation and Managing in Health Services.

Prof Federica Morandi is Professor of Management at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Faculty of Economics, Department of Management Studies. She is the Programme Chair of the bachelor degree of Economia e Gestione dei Servizi (Economics and Service Management) at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. She obtained a PhD in Economic and Management of Healthcare Organizations at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. Since 2020 she is the Director of the Academic Programs in Altems (Graduate School of Economics and Management of Healthcare Systems) at the same university. She is also responsible for the research activities of Patient Advocacy Associations Lab and Clinical Trial Management Lab at Altems. She received two awards for research activities from the Academy of Management (2011) and from Assioa (Italian Association of Organization Studies) (2010). She has been a visiting scholar (short term) at ISCTE-IUL Lisbon (Portugal) and at Tillburg University (The Netherlands) at the Department of Organization Studies – School of Social Behavioural Sciences. Her research interests focus both on organizational models in healthcare and on healthcare workforce. Prof Federica Morandi co authored more than 30 scientific papers both in international and national peer-reviewed journals and about 10 book chapters. She is also author of a monography entitled “Managerial solutions to hospital challenges” edited by Nova Science Publishers, 2016. Prof Federica Morandi is co editor of a book series dedicated to the healthcare management and she is associate editor at Health Service Management Research journal.

Prof Federico Lega is Full Professor of Healthcare Management at the Università degli Studi di Milano, Department of Biomedical Sciences for Health, where he teaches healthcare management and policy and leads the Research Centre in Health Administration (HEAD). He holds a PhD in Business Administration and Management and has longstanding experience in academic leadership and executive education in the field of health management.
Previously, Prof Lega served as Professor at SDA Bocconi School of Management, where he led research on strategy and organisational development in healthcare at the Bocconi Research Centre on Health Policy and Management (CERGAS) and headed executive education programmes for health managers, clinicians and industry leaders. He has also held visiting and adjunct positions at international universities.
Since 2015, Prof Lega has been Editor-in-Chief of Health Services Management Research and serves as Associate Editor of BMC Health Services Research and Medical Care Research and Review. He has published extensively, with more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and several books. Alongside his academic work, he advises health systems, hospitals and public institutions at national and international level, contributes to policy and governance initiatives, and collaborates with international organisations, including the World Health Organization.

Monica-Georgiana Brînzac is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and serves as Network Coordinator at EUPHA. She holds a PhD in Administration and Public Policies with a thesis focused on the development and assessment of policy frameworks and policy levers to mitigate medical deserts in European healthcare systems. Her academic background also includes a BA in Public Health, an MHA in Healthcare Management, and an MPH in Science, Technology and Innovation in Governance.
With a background in public health research and project management, Monica-Georgiana Brînzac currently serves as Director of the Center for Health Workforce Research and Policy. She is a former mentee of the MultiPOD Mentoring programme and has previously worked as a consultant for the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies. Her professional experience also includes roles as an intern at OMV Petrom and as a fellow in the InnoStars Service Excellence Program at EIT Health.

Prof Catherine Keller is a hospital director and doctor in health law. She has held various positions in public health establishments (Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Mental Health). She led a large inter-hospital cooperation project. Before joining the EHESP to teach hospital law, she also worked as an administrative magistrate, in charge of hospital litigation.

Rui Santana is a Full Professor at the NOVA NSPH. He is currently the Deputy Director of NOVA NSPH, President of the Pedagogical Council, and Director of the Department of Policies and Management of Health Systems. His research interests include the study of organizational models and designs, vertical integration of care, health financing, and costing methods in healthcare organizations.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the European Health Management Association, a reviewer for the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation, and an Associate Editor of the Portuguese Journal of Public Health. He has served as a consultant for the World Bank and participated in various Technical Working Groups of the Ministry of Health. With over 20 years of professional experience, he has also worked as a Hospital Administrator and as a consultant at Arthur Andersen.
He holds a PhD in Public Health, specializing in Health Policy and Administration, a postgraduate degree in Hospital Administration and in Health Unit Management, and a degree in Business Management.

Health management has a crucial function in shaping public health and health system challenges. The Medical University of Varna, Bulgaria had success in collaborating with EHMA on EU-funded projects that has resourced us to create new health management competencies for the future workforce. In addition to all classical definitions, health management is a science dealing with individuals, groups, and society at large. It is an art contributing to the beauty of our lives and an interactive communication process at all levels of institutions and human energy. I have also had the pleasure to chair the South Eastern European Special Interest Group which gives members a space to discuss and tools to address how health systems are managed in our regions.
