What aims and scope
To bridge the “missing link” between the progressive digitalisation of the healthcare sector and the lack of eHealth and innovation skills among health and social care professionals, so they can fully maximise their use of innovative eHealth products and solutions.
How it became possible
Over the course of three years (2018-2021), the consortium comprising 19 organisations across six European countries executed three primary phases: preparation, development and testing. Regions included Denmark, Norway, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and Poland.
Each consortium member oversaw a triple helix partnership (similar to a pilot site) that included healthcare providers, educational institutions and enterprise representatives to conceive and refine concept tools in a real-life environment.
Through an extensive iterative process, triple helices better aligned the creation of the tools with the needs and wants of patients and healthcare professionals alike. Learnings gained and training materials/templates created were then made available in technical support documents presented before the European Commission (and on the current website).
Where EHMA delivered
EHMA together with the ECHAlliance are involved in all the communication activities of the project and the dissemination among stakeholders.
As leader of dissemination and exploitation activities, we are engaging our ecosystems to get involved in the preliminary phase of needs assessment and mapping of existing educational initiatives in the field as well as skills shortage in the different territories. Moreover, replicability of the training methods and tools developed and scale up of the Learning Innovation Unit concept will be promoted across our membership base and ecosystem network.

Health management has a crucial function in shaping public health and health system challenges. The Medical University of Varna, Bulgaria had success in collaborating with EHMA on EU-funded projects that has resourced us to create new health management competencies for the future workforce.
