SIG ON ONE HEALTH
EHMA launched the Special Interest Group on One Health (SIG OH) to advance a holistic understanding of health that encompasses the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental wellbeing. This group acknowledges the complex challenges in modern health scenarios, advocating for an approach that enables health management to transcend traditional boundaries between disciplines and sectors. Central to its mission are activities such as research on the interconnectedness of different health domains and the effective dissemination of knowledge across various professional sectors.
STATUS: ONGOING
VISION: The SIG One Health aims to accelerate the adoption of best practices in One Health to balance and optimise the health of people, animals, and ecosystems.
CHAIR: Marija Jevtić, MD, PhD | Full Professor | University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Medicine | Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina | Serbia

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR
Implementing the One Health approach with a holistic definition of One Health Management emphasises coordinated leadership and resource-sharing across sectors, addressing complex health challenges. It enhances health system sustainability by promoting collaboration, optimising resources, and ensuring effective sectoral contributions. A unified management structure, aligned with national and international guidelines, helps tackle global health issues efficiently. By recognising the need for structured leadership and improved coordination, this approach strengthens collaboration across human, animal, and environmental health sectors, ensuring a strategic response to global threats such as zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and climate change. Ultimately, One Health Management fosters long-term sustainability, optimises resources, and promotes a more proactive and effective global health governance model.
