EHMA Webinar – Managing COVID-19: an Italian Perspective

On February 20th “Patient 1”, was discovered in Codogno Hospital, in Lombardia Region. From that day more than 30.000 people have died in Italy, 50% of them in northern Italy and in the Lombardia Region, in particular. The Graduate School of Health Economics and Management has launched a research team dedicated to monitoring the institutional and organizational models of the response of the 20 health care systems active in Italian regions. We have seen a great variability in terms of use of testing, the role of COVID-19 hospitals, of nursing homes, of physical and virtual monitoring. We were able to identify 3 organizational models of response: hospital-based model; community-based model, hospital and community-integrated model. The opportunity of analysing the impact of different organizational solutions used to face the same emergency can be a significant learning opportunity for hospitals and healthcare systems worldwide

Webinar learning objectives:

  1. To learn about possible organizational solutions to face pandemic events
  2. To learn about the role of COVID-19 hospitals in the Italian Regions
  3. To learn about best practices on managing Covid-19 between hospitals and other healthcare settings
